What a wonderful June day at the annual Petalburg PRIDE PARADE! You and your most flamboyantly colored Pokemon have found your way to a colorful, inclusive community with zero gatekeeping or incestuous friend groups. Swept up in the fun, you are pulled onto a FLOAT in the middle of the parade for a surprise RAINBOW CONTEST!

"SPIN THE WHEEL!" calls an announcer with no discernable gender, and two bisexual lesbians spin a giant rainbow wheel labeled with the five Contest Types. The needle teeters for a moment, then finally clicks over to the word BEAUTIFUL.

An indie cover of a song from Rent starts up in the background and the crowd goes crazy for some reason. "All right! Now for a word from our straight allies!" the announcer shouts into the mic, pulling someone's embarrassed sister (probably) onto the stage to read out the contest rules.

C O N T E S T R U L E S

ONE POKEMON, full available learnset (includes TMs, egg moves, tutors, etc.) The Pokemon you choose must be one of the 7 colors in the rainbow.

FIVE ROUNDS, completed quickly! Posts once or twice a day. Loose wordcap of 100 words to encourage speed!

RANDOM CONTEST TYPE per round (Cute, Tough, Smart, etc.) Contest types will be randomly generated and may repeat.

THE WINNER'S RIBBON given out at the end will be a surprise! It will reflect the Contest Types that came up during the contest.

APPEAL POINTS will be calculated using the Generation 6 mechanics. Excitement (matching the same type) will award +1 extra appeal point, but Indifference will have no effect and Discontent will be -1. When the cumulative Excitement is brought up to 5, the Audience will award +5 appeal points to that player and the total will be reset.

GEN 7 AND 8 MOVES will not be considered.

This contest canonically takes place in June for PRIDE MONTH!

Being suddenly pulled onstage is disconcerting enough, and the cheering of the crowd rings loudly in Luka's ears. But she smiles awkwardly and waves, the Clefable by her side also waggling her fingers with a shy sort of enthusiasm.[break][break]

"Ah, oh gosh..." Improv isn't really her strong suit, so Luka goes with whatever comes to mind first. "O-okay! Let's have a magical time, everyone!"[break][break]

Her Clefable giggles and raises up her hands, letting a barrage of leaves fly from them. They soar, sparkling in a myriad of rainbow colors into the crowd, catching the sunlight like thinly cut opals. After landing in the crowd, excited partygoers wear them in their hair and cheer, and Clefable turns a little twirl to end her turn.

Zac and his sparkly pink Hypno were hauled up onto the pride float. One of the bisexual lesbians came over to squeeze Zac's muscles, and the other ran her manicured fingers through Nyx's sparkly fur, showering those nearby with cascades of inclusive glitter.

Encouraged by the warm welcome into the community, Nyx fist pumped the air with a shimmering ICE PUNCH, which flash-froze the glitter from his fur into a flurry of little snowflakes.

ICE PUNCH: +4 Hearts - Quite an appealing move. Beautiful.

contests weren't always in his agenda, but it's been fun as of late. more appearances from him within the contest scene start to accumulate with each passing season.

what better way to showcase the spirit of the pride parade with none other than an icon to a very niche community of the internet lgbtq that mostly dabbles in easy art commissions and socially unacceptable con scandals.

the lycanroc goes up the stage and flexes his bulging noah faber muscles in the same way people would do to, well, flex the work of art which is their body. a series of poses eventually make their way to a swords dance that incorporates both grace and strength.

Leave it to Razz to ruin a joke and not go along with the clear theme that was set in DMs. Though in his defense he was suppose to be working to ensure pokemon didn’t go crazy in all the madness going on in this ‘Pride’ thing. He doesn’t get it, but he’s not judging them. He does put on a familiar mask he’s gotten used to carrying around with him to help with with his nerves as Salem makes sure to keep himself attached to keep his trainer calm. Deep breaths the Meowstic reminds but also decides to call on one of the rangers to take part in the fun. [break][break]

With a whistle one of the almost dozen of Bisharp that helped with patrol comes along. Yellow more than excited to take part as he was among the more personable among his brothers and sisters. Jumping up to be onto the float the sharp pokemon uses METAL CLAW seemingly not to realize they were going for beauty points not cool points. But at least they did land with a fun little super hero landing, maybe that would help with a few claps.

If the rest of the parade wasn't watching before, the shower of rainbow hair accessories from Luka's Clefable's Magical Leaf definitely draws their attention! The move is followed up by Razz's Bisharp, to whose Metal Claw the crowd sucks in their breath despite themselves. "So fucking cool..." someone whispers, impressed.

...They're not wrong, but more BEAUTIFUL sights are on their way! Zac's Hypno's triumphant fist to the sky seems to strike a chord in those the float passes, and many other fists are thrust towards the heavens as people start to cheer. The cheering grows as a furry display of strength and finesse from Kyle's Lycanroc sets the stage.

Mars' Gyarados brings a welcome rain to the parade in this sweltering June weather. But no Rain Dance can quench this thirst—grabbing for barely-concealed abs, pecs, and biceps, the parade is momentarily halted by a crowd of overeager partygoers who block the street. "Next round, people! Spin the wheeeeel!" the announcer calls, heedless of the obstruction.

Salem has to meow loudly over the crow in order to be heard by Yellow. The Bisharp not realizing what he had done wrong, and honestly neither did their trainer understand it much. But he wasn’t there for the contest, just look human really so his pokemon could have the fun. When the wheel spins Salem takes a look before telling Yellow what to do. First waiting for the others to do their attacks and then go for it. [break][break]

Once their Turn is up the Bisharp’s body begins to glow white and bring an extra shine to their body before firefly balls disbursed from him and up to collide with one another to create a sparkling show.

the rain makes the lycanroc's skin itch with each droplet that slides down on its well-defined features accented by the various forms showcased with his previous move. this wasn't the last of it, however.

the lycanroc moves up to the float's highest peak, where everyone can see him. as a point of assurance, the lycanroc makes an audible ruff to grab their attention and continues to flex for the spectators of the pride parade to see.

when the crowd cheers, the final act of whipping his head so the wet fur covering his face is swept back. there were more cheers that happened afterwards after doing the classic shampoo commercial stunt.

Drops of water drip down the Gyarados’ scales, reflecting small glances of a multitude of colours (and not just red!). It’s in the water that the pokémon feels most at home, and as if to match the excitement of the crowd, it lets out a loud roar – this in company with its intimidating stare causing some of those gathering around the float to let out ”Wow!”s and ”Oh!”s.

Lernie (his name is actually Phlegethon but let’s act like he’s some kind of show dog with a fancy name and a cute nickname) isn’t the most clever pokémon out there, but he sure is TOUGH. So tough, actually, that that roar of his causes winds to rise, the Gyarados posing mighty and proud when a HURRICANE blows over the parade in the form of a powerful gust.

Oh, what fun![break][break]

Cupcake toddles about and dances in the puddles left over from Rain Dance, waving her stubby little arms about. As she does, various decorations begin to float around her, rising in the air to dance along. A flurry of colorful streamers come together to form a rainbow around her, and of course there's copious amounts of glitter added to the mix.[break][break]

The streamers eventually form a ball around the sparkling particles and float out into the center of the crowd. It hovers for a moment before exploding with a loud pop, a burst of colorful confetti and glitter raining down on the audience.[break][break]

These poor partygoers will be finding residual glitter in every nook and cranny for the rest of their lies.

Why stop at windswept hair Martín del Mar ?

As the gorgeous, glittering scales of the Red Gyarados get the crowd all riled up, Nyx the Hypno sees an opportunity to get things really wild.

After swiftly gaining consent from the audience via telepathy, Nyx weaves his Psychic influence into the ongoing Hurricane, whipping it up into a whirling, glittering storm of Red energy that tears off the shirts of all willing participants in the pride parade.

"What a rippa!" shouted Zac, shirtless and proud to be part of such a fun and raucous event. "I've gotta incorporate some of these ideas into my next biome contest!"

PSYCHIC: +4 Hearts - Quite an appealing move. Clever.

It only seems fitting that the decor itself begins to dance to the Madonna playlist as Luka's Clefable returns to center stage, giving the crowd exactly what they wanted: glitter. The Telekinesis Glitter Bomb goes off with a bang. The audience goes wild, and the resulting shower of metallic powder sets the bar high for the other contestants.

Winds begin to blow as Mars' Gyarados sets up for his winning Tough Guy combination, but the big nerd flubs it under the pressure as he sees the rain from his earlier Rain Dance has been replaced by raining glitter instead. Zac's Hypno takes advantage of Gyarados' moment of weakness, seizing the Hurricane and transforming it into a consensual storm of seam-ripping Psychic.

Shirts blow off Marisa Tomei-style as the crowd really lets loose, the less inhibited among them happy to shed their outer layers and go topless given the opportunity. Between 1-4 bisexual lesbians consent to the disrobing and bare whatever is acceptable within Proboards Terms of Service for the world (and each other) to see. Razz's Bisharp creates a sparkling show of Hidden Power that momentarily distracts from any ogling, inspiring oooohs and ahhhs from the onlookers.

Kyle's Lycanroc climbs to the highest turret of the rainbow Pride float, but his ruffing and mundane flexing goes mostly unnoticed as the gay men who would otherwise be interested are too busy drinking iced coffee to pay much attention. Sadly, his self-assurance falls flat, and his nerves get the better of him.

Hypno's pale ruff swelled with the cumulative energy of all the exposed pecs, tits, chests, and nips. His fur grew a few shades redder, almost as red as Zac's hair, and certainly moving him into first place on the color spectrum.

But all that red-hot energy had to go somewhere.

Nyx opened his mouth and let loose a terrifying Hyper Beam that shook the air and soared up into the sky where it detonated inside one of the rain clouds.

The light from the attack flashed inside the cloud like gay lightning, coloring the sky in rainbow shades of red, crimson, magenta, dark pink, and cinnabar.

HYPER BEAM: +4 Hearts / -4 Jam - Cool
Startles all other Pokémon. User cannot act in the next turn.

Unfortunately Luka is the no fun allowed type, and that shirt is staying on! But among the crowd excitement is rising and gay sparks are flying—[break][break]

Literally! A shock wave bursts from around Clefable, who's trying to play matchmaker with the excited, wet, and shirtless partygoers. The electricity washes harmlessly over the 1-4 bisexual lesbians and the rest of the crowd in a brilliant corona of light. They might feel a bit of a tingling sensation— is it electricity? Or is the person next to them just really, really hot?
